The Bill intends to repeal the current Act 95 of 1998 known as the “Housing Consumers Protection Measures Act No.95 of 1998”, by further strengthening the protection of Housing Consumers and ensuring effective regulation of the home building industry.

It is expected that further relevant information will be published during the year 2020 as to how the Bill is intended to be implemented. As soon as such information becomes available The Facilitators will inform their clients.

During the months of September, October and November 2019 The Department of Human Settlements invited all Housing Consumers, Developers, Home Builders, Project Co-Ordinators and any other interested parties across the Country to information sessions regarding the explanatory summary of the Housing Consumers Protection Bill published in the Government Gazette, No 42669 of 30 August 2019.
